———— FOR SWIMMERS OF EVERY STRIPE
Whether you're training for a competition or just want to stop sinking — you're in the right place.
Good coaching shouldn't be reserved for elite swimmers. Matt has spent his career working with athletes across every age and ability level — from Olympic qualifiers to adults who are finally giving swimming a real shot. Whatever your goals are in the water, SwimFix was built for you.

Learn from Matt in person.
In partnership with Davis Aquatic Masters, The Swim Fix brings Matt's coaching off the screen and onto the pool deck. These small-group clinics are designed to help adult swimmers better understand their stroke through personalized coaching, hands-on instruction, and practical feedback they can immediately apply in the water.
The next clinic takes place this fall at Civic Pool in Davis, California. Space is intentionally limited so every swimmer receives individual attention.

———— PRIVATE VIDEO COACHING
Expert eyes on your stroke. A real conversation about what to fix.
Most swimmers never get honest, specific feedback on their technique. SwimFix private video sessions give you expert feedback, from wherever you swim. Submit a short video of your stroke, get a full analysis from Matt, and talk it through on a recorded one-on-one call.
01
Send Matt your footage
Film yourself swimming — nothing fancy required — and submit it before your session. Matt will get to work.
02
Get a full analysis
Matt reviews your video in detail, breaking down exactly what's happening with your stroke and building a personalized set of recommendations just for you.
03
Talk it through together
You'll hop on a recorded call with Matt to walk through his findings, ask every question you've got, and leave with a clear plan you can actually execute. (The recording is yours to keep — because no one remembers everything the first time.)
A NOTE FROM MATT
————————————
Better swimming starts with better seeing.
———— GEAR WORTH BUYING
Equipment Matt actually uses. Not just endorses.
Every piece of gear on this list has earned its place on the pool deck. Matt doesn't recommend equipment he hasn't personally used, tested, and found genuinely valuable — which, if you know Matt, means the list is shorter than you'd expect and a lot more useful.
Full transparency: if you use his code COACHMATTZ at checkout, you'll get a discount and Matt gets a small commission. Everyone wins, nobody's surprised, and you end up with better gear. That's the deal.
Finis Agility Paddles
No straps, no cheating. These force you to maintain proper hand position through the entire pull — or they fall off. Matt's been using them for years.
Finis Freestyle Snorkel
The single best tool for fixing your body position and stroke mechanics. No breathing to worry about means you can actually focus on what your arms are doing.
Finis Hydrospeed Race Suit
When it's time to race, gear matters. This is the suit Matt trusts on the blocks — fast, durable, and worth every penny.
———— WHO’S BEHIND SWIMFIX
A coach who's seen it all — and fixed most of it.
A real coach.
Not an algorithm.
Matt Z has been coaching swimmers for most of his life. He started as an elite age-group coach, working with competitive swimmers all the way to Olympic qualifiers. These days, he leads DAM — the largest masters swim team in the country — coaching athletes from 18 to 95, from novice swimmers and triathletes to nationally competitive masters racers.
What makes Matt different isn't just the depth of his experience — it's what he does with it. He understands that a 28-year-old triathlete and a 72-year-old masters swimmer have almost nothing in common except the pool. Every swimmer gets a plan built around their goals, their ability, and what will actually make a difference for them.
His belief is simple: swimming is a sport that can benefit every body. SwimFix exists to make great coaching accessible to anyone who wants it.

COMMON QUESTIONS
A few things people usually ask
-
Yes. Matt has coached swimmers from 5 to 95 — Olympic qualifiers, masters racers, triathletes, and first-timers who finally decided to give swimming a real shot. Every session is built around where you are right now, not where you "should" be.
-
A phone is plenty. A friend on deck, or a phone case with a pool mount — whatever you can manage. After you book, we'll send a short guide on the best angles and lengths so Matt can see what he needs to see.
-
The video call is 30 minutes, and you'll get the recording afterward to keep. Before the call, Matt spends time on his own reviewing your footage in detail — so the call is mostly about discussion, questions, and a real plan.
-
All four: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Plus turns, starts, and pacing. You’ll choose one stroke per session, and if there's something specific you want to focus on, mention it when you book and Matt will plan around it.
-
Most swimmers see a meaningful difference after two or three sessions spaced a few weeks apart. You can book single sessions or save with a multi-session package. We'll never push you into more than you need.
-
You'll have the recording, plus a written summary of Matt's recommendations. If something doesn't make sense after a few practices, drop us a line — short follow-up questions are always welcome.
